Community Garden
Nurturing and harvesting fresh, organic produce for those in need.
In partnership with Newport Collision Center, Basic Needs launched a 100% organic community garden to provide fresh food to those in need while creating a space for natural pollinators, composting, and native plants. The garden annually provides over 800 pounds of fresh produce to Basic Needs free pantries.
Feeding Our Community
Join us! We have three 3x3 raised garden boxes, several 4X8 plots, and several 8x12 plots. The $25 fee helps pay for water, and gas for the lawn mower and weed eater. Your responsibility is to tend to your plot from May 15 - October 15 and to donate half of what you grow to the Basic Needs Food Market to provide healthy food to those in need. Together we can help the community, while also growing organic produce for your home.
